I was in a showroom recently which had an exceptional lighting display. The woman working there noted that lighting is often overlooked; one of the last things considered when the budget is pretty much depleted. Good lighting not only illuminates your space, but it can be a design feature that adds a polishing touch to the room, the strength of which you may have underestimated. In this respect, I find lighting to be a lot like window treatments - slap up a few hastily chosen panels at the end of the project, and it will show. Setting aside a protected amount in your budget for "finishing touches" like these pays huge dividends in the look of your space. Speaking of gorgeous lighting, Lasvit is a European lighting design house headquartered in Prague. They uphold the tradition of using Bohemian glass to make things of tremendous beauty. While they do large scale installations, their designer lighting collection is stunning example of both the beauty of glass, and how lighting can be a feature on its own.
